Right now I'm living an episode of Renovation Realities. Let me tell you about the show in case you've never seen it. . .it follows a couple through a home improvement project. Usually things go horribly wrong. Like destroying load bearing walls, electrocutions, mice and bat infestations, running out of money, spouses yelling at each other and crying. It airs on HGTV and the DIY network. I love to watch, but I always wonder how they cast the show. Do they put an ad in the paper that says, "Want to do a home improvement project but have no idea how to run a table saw? Call us!"
Back to my story. . .for a long time we've talked about remodeling our bathroom. Over the months, we priced out a few things and drew up some plans. Well last Saturday my husband decided it was time to start. We made a trip to Menards and bought a few items. Sunday rolled around, and I was busy doing my Sunday chores--mainly laundry. My husband reassured me that he was NOT going to start demo-ing the bathroom. After a trip upstairs to put away clean clothes, I come down and he is tearing down the wallpaper! I gave him "the look" and he said, "The corner was peeling. This is all I'm doing." I went about my business. Luckily the wallpaper was done and finished with in five minutes. A couple hours later I made another trip upstairs, came down, and HE WAS PULLING TILES OFF THE WALL! I got mad. I rarely get that mad. But when I get really mad, I get silent. Things did calm down, he helped me finish my Sunday chores, and we cleaned out the bathroom in preparation for demo. And I resigned myself to the fact that I will be showering in the basement and going to the bathroom upstairs until probably Christmas.
Here's a few before and mid-demo pictures. We're one week in and we're almost done with demo. We don't get much done during the week with work, but hubby likes to swing the sledge hammer in the evenings. It's a good destresser after working in the office all day.
